Update on the Norfolk County Council minerals planning consultation. This page provides details of the current consultation process that includes the Ditchingham site proposed by Lafarge Aggregates. This Page provides quick links to Norfolk County Council’s own web site. Although it is welcome news that the Ditchingham site has been identified as ‘not acceptable — do not allocate’ for inclusion in the site specific minerals plan it is important to realise that the threat has not been removed totally. There is now some uncertainty as to the timing of future events; visitors to this website are encouraged to refer to Norfolk County Council’s own website following the links at the bottom of this page and to check the minutes of NCC cabinet meeting 12 July 2010 here (agenda item 8). Of the 99 originally proposed minerals sites, 55 sites are considered to be unacceptable in principle, 27 acceptable, with a further 17 sites (mostly ‘Areas of Search’) identified as having the potential to become acceptable subject to changes in the proposal. It is considered that with the 27 acceptable mineral sites and just some of the potentially acceptable sites, there is likely to be sufficient quantity of mineral to meet the apportioned need to provide 29 million tonnes of sand and gravel. This includes an explanation of process and a link to the papers to be discussed at Cabinet.
